PHASE_1 RESEARCH
USER RESEARCH
I conducted a text interview with an acquaintance my age who owns a BKA prosthetic to ask about what he likes and dislikes about his current product. He would prioritize Comfortability > Aesthetics > Usability > Price
Design Priorities (In Order)
Though Sean English falls into the demographic of who I primarily set out to design a prosthetic leg for, I still conducted 12 separate interviews with BKA Prosthetic users and BKA non users. I was very surprised to find out how important aesthetics were to these people. Though Sean placed comfortability as his number 1 priority, a whopping 8 of 12 placed aesthetics as their number 1 priority out of Aesthetics, Ease of Use, Comfortability, and Price. Most commonly with price in last place. To top it all off, 3 of the 8 refused to wear prosthetics because of how they look or because they creep them out.

SPORTS
This is undeniably an incredible product that enhances sport performance. But you don't look at this and see a leg or foot but rather a hook attached to some carbon fiber.
LIFESTYLE
Let's be real, the current standardized prosthetic looks a little scary. It's got something to do with that flesh toned foot attached to a mechanical-esque body. No thanks.
